Excellence in eye care and eye surgery requires very high quality standards and attention to fine details. Dr. Younger brings these attributes to patients with his training in cataract, cornea and refractive surgery.
After graduating from the University of Arizona College of Medicine where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as one of the top medical students in his class, Dr. Younger completed Ophthalmology training at UT Southwestern and the busy Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He also received his Master of Public Health degree and has remained active in research, authoring journal articles and presenting at national Ophthalmology meetings. He has received many high honors such as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship in neuroscience research, and recognition from the Dallas sheriff department for a public health project regarding eye injures (http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=17923693).
Dr. Younger is Board Certified, as a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Also, having completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, Dr. Younger brings to his patients the latest in surgical technology. He has been fellowship trained in LASIK and Refractive Cataract Surgery including Premium lens implantation surgeries. He also served as Assistant Professor in the Cornea and Uveitis Division and attended to patients who required complicated corneal transplant and ocular surface disease surgeries. Dr. Younger was active at UCLA in advocating for patients to obtain funding for desperately needed corneal transplants (see article at www.jsei.org/About/PDF/EYESummer2008.pdf).
He is a member of the Orange County Ophthalmology Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He holds active staff status at UCLA Medical Center and Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, and operates at two surgery centers: Newport Bay Surgery Center (http://www.newportbaysc.com) and Magnolia Surgery Center in Westminster, CA.
